White Light, Gravity Fields Festival Grantham 2012

Every now and then we like to do something out of this world and last week was no exception!.
Organisers of the Gravity Fields Festival invited Deadgood to be a part of their festival and create an installation at St. Wulframs Church in Grantham. The Gravity Fields Festival explores, celebrates and interprets some of the big thinking in today’s world, and looks back to where the modern understanding of science began.

As a homage to one of Grantham's greatest scientists, Sir Isaac Newton, we created the 'White Light'installation reflecting Newton’s experiments splitting white light through a prism into the colours of the rainbow. White light emanated from the direction of Sir Isaac Newton’s old school next to the church, shone to the church tower to be split by a prism effect into the colours of the rainbow up the spire of St Wulfram's...one of the tallest in the country.

White Light was a development of deadgood's Rainbow, a commission by the Brilliant programme for the Lumiere festival in Durham 2011. The final illumination will happen this Friday 28th September at 7.30pm.
With many thanks to the organisers for letting us be a part of this fantastic event and to Anthony Godber for the incredible shots!
